Proteomic analysis of MAS and lung disease in sJIA
A study to begin deeply characterizing these poorly understood conditions
Serum proteome analysis of systemic JIA and related lung disease identifies distinct inflammatory programs and biomarkers. Chen G, Deutsch GH, Schulert G, et al. Arthritis Rheumatol. 2022;10.1002/art.42099. doi:10.1002/art.42099
Systemic onset Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA), macrophage activation syndrome (MAS), and pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP)-like disease in the context of sJIA are syndromes with common features. Chen et al. conducted a SOMAscan proteomic analysis of >1300 analytes in sera of these patients, suggesting that these diseases represent an inflammatory continuum and provided biomarkers to distinguish between them.
